The first race of the evening was round two of the Gordon Rout Hilly 9.7 mile TT. Ten racers set off along the warm, damp, windless A7. Once in the nitty gritty of the Windydoors climb and the fast technical descent, the increasingly wet, muddy roads revealed who had not just the best climbing legs but also the most courage (or the least fear perhaps). The last couple of bends, usually taken at high speed, were smeared with mud but thankfully caution and slower speeds prevailed and we all stayed upright!

Fantastic ride from Neil (wet roads don’t slow me down) Shepherd (course PB, surely?) to take the win, and some great times by many, given the dodgy road surface conditions!

Thanks to all the marshals and support team, especially Christine Johnston who had been wrenched from her intended evening plan of quaffing a nice red wine with her feet up and ended up standing in the damp with a clipboard and stopwatch instead – true dedication indeed, thanks Christine, seriously!!
