Scottish Cycling have just this evening updated their advice relating to Covid-19.
The detail is in the attached link but the important bit, for our confined club time trials, is as follows:
“All cycling competitions and events, including club confined time trials, are currently suspended until 1 August 2020”
Unfortunately, regardless of our personal opinion of how safely, in theory, we believe we may (or may not) be able to operate club time trials, we are obliged to not run them, in light of this SC announcement and due to the corresponding terms of the club’s insurance.
Many of us will feel frustrated by this, but compared to the many sacrifices people have had to make for Covid over the last few months, it’s surely a minor one.
As we approach the 1 August date I am hopeful that we may have an announcement that will allow us to salvage a tiny morsal of the season with some August events, but we shall have to wait and see. As soon as there is something announced, I’ll share it here.
In the meantime, stay safe and keep cycling if you are able.
